A LAO Airlines plane has crashed into the Mekong River in southern Laos with 41 people on board.
An airline official told the Bangkok Post that the plane crashed into the river near Pakse as it was coming into land at the airport.
The official said bad weather may have been a factor in the crash involving the ATR 72-600, a twin-engine turboprop aircraft.
Posts on several Facebook pages from the capital of Champasak province say the aircraft went down about 5pm on Wednesday (2100 AEDT).
Photos of the aircraft partially submerged in the Mekong near Donekhao village were posted on a number of Facebook pages.
It is not immediately clear if there are any casualties.
